Can I represent myself?

Yes, any defendant may represent themselves in Court.  Our firm has over 20 years of experience representing tickets in the Westlake Municipal Court.  We understand the Court system and will fight to keep your ticket off your driving record.

Do I have to come into your office?

No, our office is able to take your information over the telephone.  We are open Monday-Friday from 8:30-4:30.  If you do not have your ticket information available we are able to get it from the Westlake Municipal Court with your name, date of birth and driver’s license number.

What HAPPENS if I hire YOU to PLEA my case?

The Attorney will appear in the Westlake Municipal Court on your behalf and plea your case to the best possible outcome. With any case our goal is to keep your driving record clean.  If you have too many convictions on your driving record you may be in danger of having your insurance premiums may go up, paying State Surcharges or possibly have your driver’s license suspended. After the Attorney appears in Court, our firm will notify you via US mail with the outcome of your case.

Do I have to go to THE MUNICIPAL  Court?

The Westlake Municipal Court does not normally require you to appear if you retain an Attorney to PLEA your case.  However, depending on the circumstances of your case, the Judge may require you to appear with the Attorney.

If you retain our office to set your case for TRIAL you would be required to appear as your own witness.

what else do I have to pay?

It is our goal to keep your driving record clean, but you may have to pay a fee to the Court if you are granted Deferred Adjudication (probation). After the Attorney works our a plea deal on your behalf our office will mail you a letter via US mail with the outcome of your case.

Will the ticket go on my driving record?

Our goal to keep your Westlake ticket off your driving record.  If you are granted Deferred Adjudication (probation) and comply with all the conditions of your probation set by the Court, the citation will not be reported to the Texas Department of Public Safety (Texas DPS).

I let my insurance lapse, can you help me?

Texas State Law requires all drivers to carry minimum liability insurance for the vehicle they are driving.  Insurance ticket convictions may lead to state surcharges and driver license suspensions.  If you did not have valid insurance when your ticket was issued, we can still assist you.  We ask that you provide our office with proof of your renewed policy documentation and when we appear in Court on your behalf we will present it to the Court.  Even with a renewed insurance policy, most “no insurance” tickets are not dismissed.  It is our goal to keep the violation from becoming a conviction on your driving record.

How will you notify me of the outcome?

After your case is completed our office will mail you a letter, via US mail, to the address you provided.  The outcome notice you receive from our office will have your specific case requirements listed.  If you have any questions about our letter, our office is open Monday thru Friday from 8:30 am- 4:30 pm to assist you.

Can you lift my warrant?

If you ticket is past due it is possible that the Westlake Municipal Court has issued a warrant and “Failure to Appear” for each violation your were charged with.  As long as you have not entered into plea agreement with the court we are able to lift your warrants.  The Westlake Municipal Court does not accept faxed copies of Appearance bonds, so all bonds are mailed to the Court once we are retained.  After the warrant has been lifted, the Court will set your case for a court date.  A Lawyer from our office will appear in Court on your behalf to enter a plea on your behalf.

How long will my warrant take to lift?
We begin working on your case the day we are hired.  The Westlake Municipal Court does not accept faxed copies of Appearance bonds, so we will mail the to the Court. Until the Judge signs the bonds, you will have active warrants.  After the warrants have been lifted the court will set your case for the Attorney to appear.  We will mail you the outcome of your case via US Mail to the address you provided.

Do I have to take a Driving Safety Course?

Not necessarily, it depends on any special circumstance of your case.  For instance, defendants who  were under 25 years old, and received a citation for a moving violation, are required by Texas State Law required to complete a Texas State approved driving safety course as a condition of probation. If you were speeding excessively or have a high number of convictions on your driving record the Judge may require you to complete a driving safety course.  We will notify you of any special requirements.
